Stress is one of the biggest things that we are facing daily in our lives. It affects our health, our memory, our emotions and in return our relationships.
I won’t even mention how it is affecting our creativity, work, business etc.
I am now going to share with you 17 different methods to share, express, release stress and hopefully, will give you an idea that you like to use starting TODAY. This is to improve your life quality so take action!
Writing is one of the easiest ways to let go of negative emotions. You can keep a journal and let it go into it. Keep the feelings in the notebook and let it leave your soul.
You can write affirmations and visualize the positive situation within the negative and feel much better about it.
2. Breathing Exercise
Breathing instantly help us to calm and feel better. Take 10 deep breaths and visualize the positive situation at the same time. You will feel much better and less stressed about the stress factor
This can be many things. It could be small daily action steps to take, increase the movement within the day. You could do small things like dance, walk, use stairs, park at the farthest spot in the parking lot, step down the bus in the previous stop to walk a bit. Working out is always the best way to release stress from that body of yours.
4. Plan/Be Prepared
Planning is always good to handle stress and makes it easier to handle the hard tasks. I just wrote a blog post about it and how you can better your days with 10-15 minutes planning.
5. Do Something You Love Before Doing a Hard Task
When you are being tense even thinking about it, going somewhere, stepping into something, doing something that will trigger some bad and restraining emotions you can always escape it by doing something really fast and effective right before it.
You can dance to your favorite song, listen to an upbeat song or watch a funny video and laugh your stress away.
6. No One is Perfect
Being perfect is nothing one can achieve. You can have your sh*t together but you will NEVER feel complete and perfect.
Accepting that no one is perfect and that you won’t be will ease the stress you are putting on yourself. Your desire to be something should be to be happy. What would make you happy? What goals are enough to reach to make you happy?
Re-evaluate your current goal setting. Don’t put this stress on you unnecessarily.
7. Set Small Goals and Motivate Yourself to Reach Them
You should have a crazy good dream. A dream that will freak you out when happened that you break into your happy dance 😊
Now write down small steps to reach that goal and reward yourself when accomplishing those goals.
Giving away the least wanted responsibilities to someone that you know will do a better job then you are relieving. Hire a VA or ask a family member/friend who knows lots about the task you hate to do and asks for help. You can pay them if you like to.
Love is something that will make us produce oxytocin in our bodies. That is the happiness hormone. Happiness will decrease the stress you are feeling.
Meet up with people you love and feel better. Talk with them more often. Have a group of friend that supports you when you need it.
10. Healthy Body Will Help You Deal With Stress
Eating healthy is a huge help to your body for any kind of negative effect on it. Reduce the sugar and caffeine intake. Do not use alcohol and don’t smoke. You are tiring your body with these.
Help your body to recover by taking care of it.
If you look at the great leaders and their habits, they are all following these health rules in order to be more successful.
You can always sleep your stress away. Sleeping is one of the best ways to feel better and let your body recover from stress.
12. Identify Your Stress Factor
If you know what you are stressing about you can take care of the negative aspect of it. Depending on what it is you can either take it out of your life or know how to handle it.
If it is a task that you hate to do you can make a decision on delegating it, hire someone to do it.
If it is a big task that is stressing you out, then start doing it first thing in the day and feel awesome when you have accomplished it.
13. Avoid Unnecessary Stress
This is almost like a follow-up to the point above. Make a healthy habit to choose on how to live your life and make a decision to not live with it.
14. Alter the Situation
If you are in a situation that you can not change then you can trick your BRAIN. You can reframe the situation and see the problem as an opportunity to grow as a person. You can see it as a challenge to take a step outside of your comfort zone.
See the bigger picture and don’t get caught up in that small detail when you are there for the bigger picture.
If you are facing stressing situations you can always ask someone to help you and ask to share the responsibility or ask to support you in this and will have the emotional support. This way you will do whatever that task is but also won’t feel the stress as much. This will be a compromise with the situation.
Another way to compromise with the situation is to accept it and to do it in chunks. Start with the easiest part of the issue/stress factor and move on to the next easiest part of it and so on. That way you at least do things to keep it going and feel not that cornered by the big responsibility.
16. Accept It
Accepting that you can’t control the uncontrollable is a huge thing to do. If you can just accept and go with the flow you will be releasing the resistance and therefore minimize the stress about the subject.
17. Express the Stress
When you are expressing your feelings about anything negative and why it is stressing you out you will feel much better. This is usually the hardest part for people to express (your feelings!) but it is so necessary. Maybe the person in front of you does not know that what they do stresses you out, that they are having a negative impact on you. This could be the changing act for the negative wheel that you are in.
If this is not related to someone but to something, then you can journal about it and write down why it is bothering you.
Some people are using “word vomiting” to express their underlying issues with whatever they have a problem with. The method is simple.
You take a blank paper and start writing without thinking. The most important part is to let go of your hand and let you subconscious express itself.
